These are the class sections
Warm-up - Get to know the brushes that will create this beautiful texture to your painting. Here I talk about brushes, brushstrokes, paint, acrylic mediums and all the things that will help you create the reach texture of this technique.
Part 1 - Sketching - How to easily transfer the image of your reference photo (Frida or any other subject) to your canvas. No need to freehand draw, or use grids. Just get the sketch in the right size to your canvas so we can jump into the fun part, painting.
Part 2 - Underpainting - This video is all about the values, and working on getting them right using only one color plus white to create darks, mid-tones and highlights. A good underpainting is the roadmap to a successful painting, regardless of the colors you use.
Part 3 - Underpainting + adjustments - in this part you will finalize the underpainting, step back to spot the mistakes that stand out and make the first adjustments.
Part 4 - Likeness and Skin - In this section you’ll compare a black & white version of your underpainting against the reference photo and identify and work on all the corrections to her face features in order to achieve a better likeness. You will also add colors to her skin.
Part 5 - Flowers and Background - Time to play and explore a more abstract style with the flower arrangement in her head. Here you will only focus on exploring shapes, colors and interesting marks. It’s also time to add some color to the background.
Part 6 - Dress and Jewelry - More playtime. You’ll work with patterns, stencils (if you choose to use them) and for a few minutes, just forget about the reference photo. It will be your chance to add your personal touches and marks.
Part 7 - Last adjustments and final touches - here you will make a final comparison between black & white versions of your painting and the reference photo, correct whatever bothers you and add your own final marks.
BONUS VIDEO - In this section I tell you where to find vintage frames, what to look for as you are shopping for them, and how much you should expect to pay. You will also learn how to easily fix a damaged detail on an old frame, how to repaint it and safely attach your canvas to it. And finally, you’ll see how to properly wire it and have it ready to hang.
